American Idol in The Bluff City

Welcome to Memphis, Tennessee; Home to the King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley. We Memphians could say lots of good things about Memphis and I put some of it into a song:

Memphisized
By The WTL Club

I’ve been Memphisized
From the east-side to the low-end
And now i’m back again
To get Memphisized
We got the Grizzlies
And Redbirds too
You gotta check-out the Memphis Zoo
To get Memphisized
Medical Science that’s state-of-the-art
And medical doctors who are very smart
Golf parks, country clubs....
We got the boy scouts and the cubs
In the middle of it all
The Bluff City is standing tall
When you visit you’ll have a ball
Come on ya’ll and get Memphisized
Every kind of food that you could wish
Down-home care put into every dish
A library that’s second to none
Come on ya’ll and have some fun and get Memphisized
Its’ time you get Memphisized
When the weather gets strong and tough
We’re protected by giant bluffs
Still, we take it allin stride
We even have a pretty riverside
Big Muddy, our buddy
Commerce and trade
We’ve got it made
You outta get Memphisized
You can go downtown and just walk around
Gibson guitar is making a beautiful sound
Memphis in May
Its’ like a month long holiday
It’s time to get Memphisized
Treat yourself to a first-class prize
A city that’s expanding in size
You won’t believe your eyes
It’s better than a winning bet
Memphis, it’s the best thing yet!

The song, Memphisized is from The Way, The Truth & The Life CD.

Cool, Calm & Collected....

Under pressure, it is not always easy to be cool, so be yourself. We all have natural tonality in our speech. As we talk our natural vocal tone becomes lower when we are sad and higher when excited. In music, some of the best vocalist use their natural vocal range. I.E., Cher, Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin and Frank Sinatra to name a few.

The Great American Songbook

The Great American Songbook includes legendary artist such as Louis Armstrong, Ela Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and many others whose talents have been engraved into American culture.

The American Idol finalists efforts to entertain, pulling songs from the pages of the Great American Songbook are commendable.

Paris - Foolish Things; An exceptional vocal talent whos' voice lights up a room.
Taylor - You Send Me; Places his personal stamp on music.
Elliott - It had to be you; Professional delivery and style.

Professionalism

Constructive Criticism: We cannot see ourselves as others see us. Yes, none of us are perfect nor do we have our hearts in a jar hidden away from pain. Yet, to place yourself in the position to have your work placed under critical analysis, then have the ability to use the findings for self growth is a trait of professionalism.

Follow Your Dreams....

At an early age Stevie Wonder's piano teacher told him to become a piano tuner. Imagine that! On another note; There was a time when I could only find things in books and now I can hide things in books. The internet is cool and so is making time to read a book.
